Abby Amanuel is a longtime New Yorker working in a private investment firm in midtown Manhattan, and is the daughter of three generations of dedicated educators. Growing up with teachers who served in both rural and urban settings in East Africa, Abby grew up hearing firsthand accounts of the direct link between having or lacking shoes and succeeding in education. After supporting initiatives to empower students from a distance, Abby is delighted to join MSYShoes as Board Secretary and to offer hands-on, direct support going forward. Abby brings over 15 years of organizational experience, and has in the past been instrumental in the successful launch and sale of a tech startup. In volunteering and community-based service, Abby served as the chairperson of the food ministry task force at her church on the Upper West Side of Manhattan in 2016 and 2017, and remains a supporter of her community’s efforts in eliminating hunger. Abby attended California State University, Northridge, and Hunter College in New York City, and holds a BA in literature. Abby lives in the wonderful and historic community of Harlem.
